You know the old adage, "Better living through technology?" Well, this is a case in point...

Mark called in again and it seems as if the satellites were not quite lined up, as his transmission is fairly garbled. I'll post it anyway, as it's nice to hear his voice and especially to hear the enthusiasm in it.

    Hi Mark,
    Good stuff - I made out the word 'pancake' anyway. I was just thinking that all these loads you're carrying are kind of the equivalent of dragging me up Mont Blanc last year - you see, it was perfect training?! Neil dropped me a line to say he'd seen you en route - he summitted (no pressure then) but the word 'brutal' was used in the same sentence.

    Hey Mark!
    It sounds like you are doing really great out there! I was wondering what you might be eating on this climb; I never thought it would include pancakes. That's great! I was remembering that time you sent me a photo of your grocery cart before another climb some months ago...it was full of things like cheese, chocolate, nuts...and I was thinking that a month would be a long time to eat just that. :D
    Again, how good it is to hear your voice! It seems to me that you have a truly outstanding team.
